he Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators is a non-profit professional association dedicated to:

  • Protecting the welfare of patients and study subjects
  • Enhancing the proficiency of pharmaceutical physicians
  • Promoting the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge concerning the therapeutic action, investigation, and development of medicines and diagnostics.

Dr. Pellegrino has been a member of the APPI since 1995, has founded and chaired the Patient Advocacy Committee, sits on the Ethics Committee that developed the APPI Code of Ethics and has served on the  Board of Trustees since 2002.  Pharmaceutical medicine and pharmaceutical physicians have recently been recognized as a specialty by the American Medical Association.

What is a Pharmaceutical Physician?

A Pharmaceutical Physician is a physician who spends the majority of his/her professional time in matters related to pharmaceutical medicine.  Pharmaceutical Medicine is the discipline of medicine devoted to the discovery, research, development and the support of ethical promotion and safe use of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical devices and diagnostics.  Form more information see the APPI website.
